DIFFERENCES BETWEEN DEEP TISSUE, SWEDISH, AND RELAXING MASSAGE

If you have clicked on this post for the differences between Deep tissue, Swedish, and Relaxing massage, you have come to the right place. (I was going to make a pun- ‘you have com to the right site’. But I thought it might hit the wrong nerve. So, it’s better not to.)

Now, let’s get into why you are here. Let’s start with Deep tissue massage.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

The main difference between Deep tissue, Swedish and Relaxing massage is the amount of pressure that’s applied on the skin. By this I don’t mean hard painful massage, but reaching beyond the skin surface to muscles and connective tissues. Because, one of the main purposes of Deep tissue massage is to treat pain, and malfunction in the musculoskeletal system of the body.

Deep tissue massage is a purely therapeutic massage that focuses on the problem areas. This can make the massage a bit painful, but not unbearable, because the massage therapist will be massaging the pain spots. But other than that Deep tissue massage isn’t about bringing pain on yourself, but to ease pain, treat muscle and joint injuries, and stimulate muscle movement.

SWEDISH MASSAGE

On the other hand, Swedish massage is a relaxation massage and a therapeutic treatment. So, it’s a fantastic massage if you want to relax and relieve minor aches, like back pain, stiff neck, tired legs and arms.

Swedish massage is a full body massage. The massage therapist uses long smooth strokes (amongst other techniques) of medium to light pressure to soothe away stress and aches. Basically, Swedish massage is ideal as a relaxation massage with therapeutic benefits.

RELAXING MASSAGE

Relaxing massage is mainly to calm the mind, steady the senses, and ease anxiety. In other words, Relaxing massage is more to calm the mind than it is to treat the body.

A Relaxing massage is a full body massage. The massage therapist uses gentle touch and light strokes. This massage is good for anyone who is stressed, or tense, and wants a moment of tranquillity to refocus and relax.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN DEEP TISSUE, SWEDISH, AND RELAXING MASSAGE

Before you click off, I would conclude this post by adding that Deep tissue, Swedish and Relaxing massage are all superior massages in their own right. And none is better than the other. They are all effective and quality massage treatments that serve different purposes.
